New World Update 2.0.4

Greetings, Adventurers!

New World Update 2.0.4 downtime will begin at 11:00PM PT (6:00AM UTC) on August 29 and last approximately 2 hours. As the final portals close on Luck of the Bones, a new danger descends upon Aeternum. Defend sandwurm eggs in the Siege of Sulfur event for a Mini-Devourer hat skin, sandwurm egg housing item, and more.

Siege of Sulfur

Updated on 9/12: The Siege of Sulfur event will be extended until October 3rd.

We recognize that the event's launch didn't go as smoothly as we had anticipated and are dedicated to improving the overall experience through additional fixes. In light of the difficulties that have affected completion and enjoyment, we have made the decision to extend the event. We hope that this extension will provide players with a better opportunity to fully experience the encounter and its unique rewards over the next few weeks.

Team up with 10+ max-level players to defend sandwurm eggs from waves of Sulfur Elementals for limited-time, sandwurm themed rewards on August 30 through September 12. You’ll also earn rewards that will help you defeat Shah Neshen. How will you stop the Siege of Sulfur?

Store Showcase

There is a constant swirl in the balance between light and shadow, the real and the void. Take your stand and look for new apparel, weapon and emote bundles in the store throughout September. These items can be obtained individually or as part of a bundle in exchange for Marks of Fortune. Here’s a preview of what to expect:

Release Notes

Client Performance

We previously capped the number of sounds in high-density player scenarios. These limits were bypassed when developing new content which reduced the game client performance in any scenario with more than five players. Most players should now see improved client performance during PVP and heavy PVE game modes as a result of reinstituting those audio limits.

Quests

The proper Samuel Worthington Bloodgood III will now be visible for the Stalk of Shame quest turn in.

Transmog

Updated the icons for the Corrupted Dynasty Longsword and Musket at the Stylemancer.
Players with female character models will now see updated the icons for Thorpe's Helm, Prime Light Headwear and Yezariael's Visage when viewed at the Stylemancer.
Updated icons for several items including Bear Bones Medium set, Vagabond Light Handwear, Breach Void Gauntlet and Corrupted Orichalcum Ice Gauntlet.
Updated Transmog error messages to show which skin is not being applied, either because there is no item in that slot, or that skin is already applied.

Spear

Invigorating Crits - added a 0.1s cooldown to prevent it from triggering more than once per attack.
Invigorating Combo - Reduced target limit from 4 to 2, so now it can only trigger 2 activations per use.

PvP Arenas

Improved 3v3 Arenas queue to more quickly get players into pre-match games that need additional Adventurers.

Notable Fixes

Fixed an issue that prevented trophy buffs from being applied and allowed some decorations to be placed more times than intended.
Fixed an issue that caused a placeholder in the Crafting Station list upon first login.
Fixed an issue with the Transmog preview when previewing gloves while using an Ice or Void Gauntlet would result in your right forearm turning invisible until you exited the Stylemancer screen.
Fixed an issue that allowed other players to appear when using the Stylemancer/Change Skin menu.
Fixed an issue that caused some skins to not show a proper tool tip in the Transmog window.
Fixed an issue that allowed players to gain more experience than intended after bulk leveling Trade Skills.
Fixed a visual issue with some roofs throughout Aeternum.
Fixed an issue that caused Golden Scarab crafts to incorrectly count toward Season Challenges.

Known Issues

Voice chat may briefly stop working while on the respawn screen.
Voice chat may stop working upon joining a group or when entering/leaving an instance like Expeditions, 3v3 Arenas, and Outpost Rush.
